Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield had taken a picture of an island in the Pacific Ocean from where he was working in outer space in the International Space Station.
This depiction of Hadfield's picture was one of my first artistic depictions, done using mostly blue coloring pencils.
A series of coloring pencils were used on a sheet of 22.8" x 30.4 paper.
First, a light sketch of the island and smaller rocks was made.
Second, layers of blues, grays, and some blacks were colored over each other. These colors will then be blended in to provide the texture for certain places such as the water, or the landscape of the island.
