For the past four years, I've been engaged in a personal project. One of my favorite TV Shows, the Canadian Animated series Theodore Tugboat is one of my favorite shows as it has influenced my interest in model boat building, studying real boats, and the art of live-action model animation.Â
I made it my mission to re-enact all 130 episodes of Theodore Tugboat using the same technique of live-action model animation. The model boats and sets were built to a much smaller scale, but still retain the hand crafted detail of the original designs that were perfected by master modelmaker Fred Allen.Â
Please note that for the past several months, I decided to renovate the models seen on this page. New models of the characters are in development.
Everything seen on this page was photographed in 2023.
Each model was made from a collection of scrap materials.Â
Materials used in these projects are cardstock, thick cardstock, pieces of plastic straws, convexed cardstock from toilet paper rolls, minimal pieces of model kits, foam core boards, wooden toothpicks, metal pins, and plasticine.
Everything is painted using acrylics.
