This project helped to develop an understanding of the art of visual storytelling through a series of interviews and clips of the subject in action in the form of a documentary. I participated as both a co-writer and camera operator on a documentary about the success of a high school boys Track & Field team.
To maintain complete stability for each shot, a tripod was utilized. The interviewees wore RHODE microphones to capture their audio. Adjustable studio lighting equipment was utilized to light the subjects.
First, I wrote a script that both the narrated dialogue and a series of questions that would be asked to the athletes being interviewed. Since I did Track & Field for two seasons, my experience helped in writing the proper questions for the interviews.
Secondly, the production team divided into two groups. My group was responsible for interviewing two of the athletes. During the interview; my duties required that I adjusted the lighting to ensure the subject appeared well on camera, operated the camera during the interview, and asking the interviewee questions while making sure that the dialogue was captured.
