This drawing was based on a picture from a British Railway Magazine of a restored steam locomotive hauling an enthusiast's train into a tunnel on a wintery branch line somewhere on the Yorkshire Moors.
This piece also has a limited color pallet, except for one color; a red bufferbeam.
A series of coloring pencils and thin-pointed coloring markers were used on a sheet of 22.8" x 30.4 paper.
First, a light sketch of the locomotive coaches, tunnel, and interior of the tunnel was made.
Second, mostly black and a combination of light and dark shades of black were used to create the overal appearance of the subject, with only the red being used as the only visible color in the piece.
Light sketches of the telephone poles and some of the shrubbery were added to better define the natural landscape.
